Place : Kudle Beach, Gokarna

It was about 6 pm on Saturday evening i was enjoying the last rays of the sun, chest deep in water when my friends call out to me and say that there is a rescue attempt going on. I step out of the water and start walking along the beach towards the scene of the rescue as i am walking and getting closer i see that no one seems to be getting into the water beyond a point and this young girl is being swept away my the seemingly calm arabian sea. I start getting worried. I start out into the water trying to get to her diagonally. I start out todwards her but i only the that she is being taken further and further away. I went as much as i could but she was still a good 20 feet away from me. Then an american, who i used to see on the beach with his small daughter and pergnant wife comes at me with a life jacket. He threw the life jacket but it landed a couple of feet away from me i swam towards it and got hold of it. I put on the life jacket and started going after her by this time she was a good 30 feet from where i was, this is when i realised that the under current was very strong and it took me to her in a hurry. After which i had to move to the beach but was unbeliveably tough as i had to fight the current dragging me to the sea and also movefoward with her. I started moving slowly but it was getting closer. i moved her a couple of meters when the american also caught hold of her and the fishemen also had come up with a long rope. I asked her to hold onto the rope and she was pulled in. Then i slowly moved to the beach and could barely walk just collapsed onto the sand where i lay. One of her friends came and said thank you but i could not think of an apt reply.
I do not know this girls name. I do not know where she came from. If anyone thinks that they know her please do let me know as i would like to get in touch with her.
